In this exclusive interview, Noëlie shares her experiences about discovering Macedonia, working with SOKO, and the insights she’s gained during her time here. From her first impressions of Skopje to her favorite SOKO flavors, let’s dive into her unique journey!
Q1:
EN: How did you first hear about SOKO, and what made you decide to come all the way from France to Macedonia for your internship?
FR: Comment as-tu entendu parler de SOKO et quelle a été la raison de ta venue en Macédoine pour ton stage ?
EN: When I was looking for an internship last year, I visited trade fair websites, including SIAL Paris, and came across SOKO on the exhibitors’ list. I was immediately drawn to their products and decided to apply.
I also believe that living abroad is an incredibly enriching experience, especially for young adults. It allows us to discover how things work in a different country, experience a new culture, and learn a new language. That’s why I chose Macedonia for my internship – to explore the country and embrace its culture.
FR: Lorsque j'ai cherché un stage l'année dernière, je suis allée sur quelques sites de salons, dont celui du SIAL à Paris, et j'ai cherché la liste des exposants. J'y ai trouvé SOKO et j'ai tout de suite été intéressée par leurs produits, c'est pourquoi j'ai décidé de postuler pour un stage.
Je pense également que vivre à l'étranger est une expérience très enrichissante, encore plus en tant que jeune adulte, car cela nous permet de voir comment les choses fonctionnent dans un pays différent de celui dans lequel nous vivons, et nous ouvre à une nouvelle culture, une nouvelle langue, etc... C’est pourquoi j’ai voulu aller en Macédoine du Nord pour mon stage et découvrir ce pays.
Q2:
EN: How long have you been here, and what’s your experience been like so far?
FR: Depuis combien de temps es-tu ici, et quelle a été ton expérience jusqu’à présent ?
EN: It’s been a little over a month since I arrived in Skopje, and honestly, I really enjoy it – both the city and the company. When I first arrived, it was snowing, which gave the city a magical charm. As for SOKO, the team has been incredibly welcoming. It feels like one big family working together, which I absolutely love!
FR: Cela fait un peu plus d'un mois que je suis arrivée à Skopje et pour être honnête, j’adore, que ce soit la ville ou l’entreprise. En effet, il a neigé pendant quelques jours à mon arrivée ce qui m'a déjà fait aimer cette ville grâce à ce côté magique qu'elle m'a offert. Quant à l'entreprise, tous les employés sont vraiment gentils, ils m'ont accueilli chaleureusement. C'est comme une grande famille qui travaille ensemble haha!

EN: What’s something that surprised you about working with SOKO or living in Skopje?
FR: Qu’est-ce qui t’as surpris en travaillant à SOKO ou en vivant à Skopje ?
EN: The public transport surprised me the most – double-decker buses are not common where I live, and riding them felt like I had accidentally ended up in London!
FR: Les transports publics sont la chose qui m'a le plus surprise lorsque je les ai utilisés pour la première fois. En effet, à Skopje, il y a des bus à deux étages, ce qui n'est pas courant là où je vis, et j'ai aussi eu l'impression de me tromper de ville et de me retrouver à Londres!!
Q4:
EN: Can you walk us through a typical day as an intern? What’s been the most fun or interesting part of your work?
FR: Peux-tu nous décrire une journée type en tant que stagiaire ? Quelle a été la partie la plus divertissante ou la plus intéressante de ton travail ?
EN: My day starts around 10 or 11 a.m., and I focus on various tasks for the Marketing and Sales team, like creating content for social media or researching potential customers in different countries. I take a lunch break in between and usually finish around 3 or 4 p.m.
One of the most interesting parts of this experience is the language barrier. Not knowing the local language can be challenging, but it’s also an opportunity to improve my English skills and exchange cultural and linguistic insights with the team, which I truly enjoy._
FR: Tout d'abord, j'arrive au travail à 10 ou 11 heures, puis je fais mes tâches pour la journée. Bien sûr, cela peut varier d'un jour à l'autre, mais il s'agit surtout d'aider l'équipe de marketing et de vente, par exemple en rédigeant du contenu pour les réseaux sociaux ou en recherchant des clients potentiels dans différents pays. Entre les deux, j’ai une pause déjeuner et je quitte le travail vers 15 ou 16 heures.
Ne pas connaître la langue des personnes qui m'entourent est clairement un challenge, mais c'est aussi très intéressant parce que cela me permet d'améliorer mes compétences en anglais, mais aussi d'échanger sur notre langue et notre culture, ce que j'apprécie beaucoup!

EN: Out of all the SOKO flavors, which one is your personal favorite?
FR: Parmi toutes les saveurs des jus SOKO, quelle est ta préférée ?
EN: Oooh, that’s a tough question! I’d have to say Mango or Sour Cherry, but Multifruit will always hold a special place in my heart! 😊
FR: Oooh, question difficile ! Je dirais Mangue ou Griotte, mais Multifruit aura toujours une place spéciale dans mon cœur 😊

EN: What’s one thing about SOKO that you think people in France would really love to know?
FR: Quelle est la chose concernant SOKO que les Français aimeraient particulièrement connaître?
EN: Definitely where they can buy the drinks!
FR: Définitivement où ils peuvent acheter leurs boissons!

EN: What’s something you’ve learned or experienced here that you’ll carry with you when you return to France?
FR: Quelle est la chose que tu as apprise ou expérimentée ici et que tu emporteras avec toi lorsque tu retourneras en France?
EN: I’ve learned how a company functions, and I’ve seen how important it is for different departments to work together to achieve progress as a whole.
Additionally, I’ve had the chance to explore Macedonia’s beautiful landscapes and cuisine. I’ll definitely be recreating dishes like tavče gravče or ajvar for my family when I return home so they can experience the amazing flavors I’ve enjoyed here.
On a personal level, living abroad has taught me independence. Even though this isn’t my first time living away from home, it’s always a growing experience that enriches my perspective on life.
FR: J'ai appris comment fonctionne une entreprise, qu'il est important d'avoir différents services mais qu'ils doivent constamment travailler ensemble si l'on veut progresser ensemble.
De plus, j'ai découvert un nouveau pays avec de magnifiques paysages et une cuisine avec de délicieux plats que je préparerai très certainement une fois que je serai chez moi, comme le tavče gravče ou l'ajvar, pour que ma famille puisse les goûter aussi, comme j'ai eu la chance de le faire.
De plus, je pense que j'ai appris à être indépendante en vivant seule, même si ce n'était pas la première fois, cela reste une expérience formidable et enrichissante qui me fait grandir en tant que personne.
